African Americans Still Support Obama but Less Enthusiastically

Apropos this post, CNN has a new poll showing that 9 out of 10 Blacks support the President.  But they are less enthusiastic supporters than they were a year ago.
One interesting fact from the CNN poll is that Blacks are more optimistic about race relations than are whites.  I've hypothesized that the election of President Obama may lead many African Americans to at least purport to be more optimistic about race relations. Afterall, if you are the man, it is hard to maintain that the man is keeping you down. I remain of the view that the Obama presidency needs to seem relevant, in public policy terms, to the Black community, or else, the President will find that his strongest base is much less strong.
